Ski Touring Weekend in Lofoten

An unforgettable adventure in Northern Norway

From USD 2297

Four amazing days await you in one of the world's most iconic landscapes. Our Lofoten ski touring weekend is more than just skiing. It's a combination of world-class ski touring, après-ski in Henningsvær, fantastic food and drink, and great company.

Highlights

  • One of Norway´s most unique ski touring locations
  • Experienced guide with a strong focus on safety
  • We'll hunt for the best snow and the most amazing experiences
  • Accommodation at historic Villa Bryggekanten in Henningsvær
  • Northern Lights! (If we're lucky)

Lofoten offers a unique landscape with alpine peaks and a wide variety of descents for all skill levels. We'll be staying at charming Villa Bryggekanten in Henningsvær, an old fishing village that has long been a hub for ski enthusiasts, climbers, and adventurers. Here you'll meet like-minded ski enthusiasts from all over the world, enjoy local food, and share mountain stories during après-ski.

The specific peaks we visit will be chosen by your guide on the day to ensure safe and excellent ski experiences. Our experienced guide will do their best to find routes with the best snow conditions, and the trips will be adapted to the group's skill level. Potential summits include Geitgalljen (1084 m), Varden (634 m), and Hommeltinden (931 m).

Our journey begins with the group meeting at Leknes Airport, from where we'll drive together to Henningsvær. We'll be staying at Villa Bryggekanten, located in the heart of a protected cultural heritage site and surrounded by traditional rorbuer (fishermen's cabins) and fish processing plants. The hotel is a vibrant boutique hotel built in the 80s, where residents, fishermen, merchants, and visitors are all welcome.

Day 2:First day on the mountain

Enjoy breakfast and prepare your packed lunch before the daily briefing. An assessment tour will then be conducted so that the guide can get to know each and every one of you. The tour may feel challenging, both in terms of vertical meters and distance, but it will be done in mellower terrain, allowing your technique to be tested along the way. This will provide both you and your guide with a good foundation for tomorrow. The day concludes with a three-course dinner at Fiskekompaniet.

Day 3:Ski touring in Lofoten

New day, new opportunities. It's time to expand our horizons. Where the tour goes today will depend on several factors: weather forecasts, snow conditions, the group's preferences, the guide's preferences... The only thing that is completely certain is that you will have another amazing day surrounded by the majestic Lofoten mountains. So buckle up your skis and get out there! The day will end the day with a well deserved meal, this time a three-course dinner at our neighboring hotel—Henningsvær Bryggehotell.

3/6 Risk

Activities/trips with some risk. Certain incidents may occur, and they may be of such a nature that they may require professional help.

Training and preperations

In order to participate on this trip, you must have good physical fitness ascending and descending on skis. Ascents can vary depending on the group's ability and snow conditions, but being able to ascend 1,200 - 2,000 meters per day is important when participating on this trip.

It's important to have experience in backcountry skiing, skinning, and to be an able skier in mountain terrain. Avalanche awareness and training are important, as well as the knowledge of how to use avalanche safety equipment, such as a beacon, shovel, and probe. Your guide will have the final risk management decision-making on this trip in order to ensure safe ascents and descents each day. Changes in weather, snow, or road conditions can change the itinerary that is presented in the day-to-day program.

Accommodation and food

We are staying at Villa Bryggekanten in Henningsvær, and from here it's a short distance to most of the tour destinations. We will sleep in twin-share rooms with either twin or double beds, depending on your needs. If you are traveling alone, we will ensure you share a room with someone of the same gender. If you prefer a private single room, the additional cost is 6300 NOK.

The standard is high, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. We'll have a hearty breakfast and prepare a packed lunch to take on the tour, before a delicious dinner is served in the evening.

Other information

The easiest way to get to leknes is to take a flight from bodø with widerøe, via one of the major cities in Norway (Oslo, Bergen, etc.). Please contact us if you need any assistance with this.

We recommend bringing one medium bag with personal items not used when skiing. You must bring your own backcountry ski gear and equipment. We require that you bring a day backpack with a hip belt to use when skiing for safety equipment, food, water, a camera, and layers.
