Lyngen ski touring by boat

Ski touring from sea to summit

Lyngen ski touring by boat

Ski touring from sea to summit

From USD 0

On this trip, we'll have four to five days of skiing, and we'll choose the locations as we go. Depending on the weather, wind, snow conditions, and how we plan the adventure, we might even get a little bonus tour on the day of departure.

Our goal is to showcase the best of what Lyngen has to offer and fully utilize the opportunities the boat provides, both for the ski focus and for life onboard during the journey.

When we're not skiing, we'll enjoy the communal areas we have on the boat. Whether you want to grab a cup of coffee with the captain while we sail towards our next mission, stand on deck enjoying the sea air and views, or just enjoy your days off with new and old acquaintances, the adventure on the Fjord Vision will truly be a memory for life.

Highlights

  • Experienced IFMGA Guides
  • We reach the best skiing areas by boat
  • We hunt for the best snow and the most beautiful experiences
  • We can customize the trip according to snow conditions, weather, and wind
  • A unique explorer boat with spacious common areas
  • Après-ski in the Northern Lights Bar on the boat

Guests will be assigned to cabins, preferably with those they are traveling with or with a participant of the same gender.

To find the best snow and ensure excellent skiing, the day’s touring objective will be determined by the guides and the Fjord Vision crew, in consultation with the guests.

Our guides are experienced IFMGA ski and mountain guides. Their primary focus is safety, alongside finding memorable descents with great snow. The tours will be adapted to the skill level of the entire group. Two guides will accompany the trip, which gives us the opportunity to divide the group based on skill level and daily preferences.

In addition to epic skiing, delicious food, and the boat itself, the crew will always ensure you are well taken care of onboard. The Fjord Vision is a unique explorer boat featuring common areas and a spacious dining room where we'll enjoy meals. After long days in the mountains, we gather in the boat's own Northern Lights Bar to talk about our adventure of the day.

Day 2-5:Skiing the Lyngen Alps - Your Epic Adventure Begins!

We enjoy a great breakfast every day, and we'll pack a lunch for our daily tours. Since we're living on the boat and have everything we need for the trip, we don't want to create a strict "day-to-day program". We want to make the most of the flexibility the boat gives us and move according to the snow conditions, weather, and wind. In addition to the Lyngen Alps, Kvaløya, Kåfjord, Uløya, or Ringvassøya may be natural areas to include on the list of potential starting points for our ski touring. We conclude each day with a dinner buffet aboard the boat.

Training and preperations

In order to participate on this trip, you must have good physical fitness ascending and descending on skis. Ascents can vary depending on the group's ability and snow conditions, but being able to ascend 800 - 1,800 meters per day is important when participating on this trip.

Accommodation and food

We will be staying on a spacious boat with basic facilities. You will sleep in shared cabins. If you are traveling alone, we strive to ensure you share a room with someone of the same gender. Despite the simple standard, the Fjord Vision is a boat with a lot of charm and history!

There are no private showers/toilets in each cabin, but there are good shared facilities.

We eat a substantial breakfast and prepare a packed lunch to take on our tours, before being served a delicious dinner in the evening.

Due to our liquor license, all alcoholic beverages must be purchased on the boat.

Other information

Equipment for king crab fishing is available on board the boat, so if we are lucky, we might have a crab catch.

Since all your equipment will be on board the boat the whole time, it's best if you limit yourself to one bag for skis, one bag for clothes and gear, and one day touring backpack.

The day touring backpack must have enough space for plenty of clothes, food, drinks, and avalanche safety gear.

The extent to which we have mobile coverage will vary throughout the trip.
