Mountain Biking on the World's Most Beautiful Archipelago

Lofoten Enduro Tour

Mountain Biking on the World's Most Beautiful Archipelago

From USD 3670

Join us on this mountain bike adventure to a special wilderness outpost of the North of Norway - Lofoten! In collaboration with Norrøna ambassador Andreas Tonelli, we've crafted a mountain biking program featuring adrenaline-pumping, technically challenging, and flowy singletrack descents, all set against the backdrop of the world's most stunning island archipelago. Get ready to uncover awe-inspiring mountains and peaks, picturesque white sand beaches, lush heaths, midnight sun, and, of course, exhilarating trails that descend straight from the mountains to the sea.

We will begin our journey in Narvik, with a brief taste of Swedish trails before making our way to Lofoten. We stay in traditional lodging, such as unique ‘rorbuer’ cabins, traditional fisherman’s cabins that have been amazingly renovated. Each evening, we indulge in a culinary adventure at local restaurants, highlighting the sea's variety of fish.

Highlights

  • Biking one of the longest slick rock trails on Earth
  • Riding from summit to the fjord
  • Descent from one of Sweden's highest peaks to the hearth of
    Lapland
  • 2 dinners at Børsen Spiseri, one of Lofoten's top 3 restaurants
  • Live like a fishermen in the red rorbuer cabins directly on the
    ocean
  • Lofoten's tasty cuisine: wild game & the freshest seafood for
    every meal

Physical level

4/6 Physical

Here you have to be ready for a real challenge! The trips are often longer than at lower levels. Along the way, it will be both physically and mentally demanding, and that requires you to be prepared for this. You should engage in targeted training well in advance of departure, and you must prepare well.

Comfort level

4/6 Comfort

Simple to good quality inns, such as small family hotels, B&Bs and agrotourism (farmhouses), usually with private bathrooms.

Risk level

4/6 Risk

Activities/trips with significant risk. Incidents may occur, and they can be of such a nature that they require professional help.

Traning and preparations

This mountain bike trip requires advanced skills and physical fitness. Before entering the trail, we mostly go uphill by bike, pushing or carrying (about 1/3 each). Downhill we move on often little used, rather technical trails, classified as S2/S3 (according to the Single Track Scale, which classifies natural trails 0-5).

The trails has both steep and technical sections, they may have demanding parts with rocks and/or roots, and are sometimes slippery. The risk level can be slightly different from trail to trail, and is therefore graded between 3 and 4 out of 6. Technical sections can of course also be walked. We will bike 10-30 km daily, with elevation gains of approximately 500-1000 meters in ascent, and similar descents. Often we make several small tours per day. The weather often changes quickly and it can be that we start in bad weather to enjoy a perfect descent to the sea in sunshine. The program is not only about biking, but also about the unique contrasting landscape, the far out feeling and the certainty to experience something very special.

Accommodation

To experience as much as possible of the area, we use three different bases during the trip. We will stay for 3 nights in a guesthouse in Narvik and 6 nights in some of the best rorbuers on the Lofoten Islands - stylish and comfortable old fishing cabins built directly by the sea.

If you are traveling alone, you will share a same-sex twin room. If you would like a single room, please request this directly for an additional payment of 2500 NOK. NOTE: Trollviken Lodge (three nights) has a limited number of rooms, and only 3 single rooms, therefore we cannot guarantee single rooms here.

All Lodges have shared bathrooms.

The trip includes full board throughout, providing breakfast, packed lunches, and dinner. Please note in the registration form if you have allergies, so that we can make arrangements for this.

Other information

The easiest way to get to our meeting point at Evenes Airport is to take a flight from one of Norway's main cities (Oslo, Bergen etc.) using an airline such as Norwegian, Widerøe or SAS.

We ask that you bring only one piece of luggage in addition to your bike bag. We recommend a duffel bag for your clothes, toiletries, and items necessary for you when we are not biking - suitcases are not allowed, due to limited space in the van. Please bring a day pack ( +/- 20 litres) for biking, for food, water, cameras, and layers.
