Hike and sail with our own Sail Yacht Varg

From USD 6228

Get ready for a seven day adventure that takes you from Norway’s iconic trails to its hidden gems. Begin your journey on land, spending three days conquering Lofoten’s bucket-list hikes and soaking in the dramatic coastal scenery. Then, switch gears for the second half of the trip as you set sail aboard Norrøna Varg Sail Yacht, exploring remote trails and untouched landscapes.

Norrøna Varg S/Y, which in 2026 was recognized as one of TIME's Greatest Places to visit, will serve as your accommodation, restaurant, and means of transportation for the second part of the trip. Hosting 3 guest cabins with room for 6 guests in total, it offers plenty of comfort for an adventure of this kind. From ensuite bathrooms with shower for each cabin, wood fired sauna and hot tub on deck, to a 3-course Arctic Fusion dinner concept and a lounge area with a fire place and large rooftop window.

From legendary peaks to secret hideaways, this journey blends the best of Norway’s wild terrain and serene seas—offering an unforgettable experience at every turn.

No prior sailing experience is needed, as the crew will handle all onboard operations and logistics. However, if you’d like to get involved and lend a hand, they’ll be more than delighted to have your assistance!

Highlights

  • Hike popular Reinebringen, Ryten/Kvalvika and Festvågtind
  • Explore the famous Trollfjorden
  • Hike trails less known, but with spectacular views
  • Glide through breathtaking fjords aboard the Varg
  • Savor gourmet meals crafted from fresh, local ingredients both ashore and at sea

We’ll spend the first two nights on land, diving into local culture and embarking on hikes to iconic landmarks. After that, we set sail on the Norrøna Varg S/Y, exploring serene bays, dramatic coastlines, and off-the-beaten-path wonders for four nights.

The itinerary is flexible, allowing us to adjust our plans to the weather for the best possible experience. Whether you’re soaking up the endless daylight of the midnight sun in summer or chasing the ethereal Northern Lights in the fall, every season brings its own magic. The journey wraps up in Kabelvåg, a convenient location for your return home or for extending your stay and continue exploring the beauty of Norway.

Join us on this remarkable adventure where every day brings new discoveries, and every landscape feels like stepping into a living postcard.

On our trips, it is important to understand that we often will be traveling far off the beaten track. We will, of course, do everything we can to assist if anything should happen, but a potential rescue operation can be demanding. It is therefore extremely important that all participants arrive well-prepared and ready to handle unforeseen situations.

Risk level

3/6 Risk

Activities/trips with some risk. Certain incidents may occur, and they may be of such a nature that they may require professional help.

Training and Preparations

The various hikes will be approximately 4-6 hours long. You have to expect hiking in uneven terrain and should have experience with similar conditions. Lofoten can be wet, with steep paths that can often be very muddy and slippery.

Be prepared to be challenged if these conditions are new to you, or train for such hikes before the trip begins. Read more about what to expect when hiking in Norway with Norrøna Adventure.

Accommodation and Food

Accommodation on land: We stay at unique and welcoming accommodation in the area. If you are travelling alone you will have your own room.

Accomodation at sea: We stay on a comfortable boat with excellent facilities. Accommodation is in double cabins.

Equipment list

This list is intended as a guideline, so that we have what we need regardless of the weather we get on the trip. Remember that you can also get used outdoor equipment that works perfectly. Get in touch if you have any questions. TIP: We recommend that you have the most important equipment in your hand luggage, for example hiking boots and gore-tex jacket/trousers.

Personal medicines and, for example, band-aids, blister plaster, sports tape, throat lozenges, nasal drops, Paracetamol/Ibuprofen, stomach regulators, etc.
We need to know about all medicines you are taking, in case something happens.

Packing Tips

While Varg offers plenty of comfort for an adventure of this kind, it’s important to remember that at 62 feet, it is still a sailboat with limited space so keep in mind how and what you pack. It's advisable to limit your luggage to one bag for clothes and gear, and one daypack for excursions. We recommend a duffel bag, as this is easier to handle than a rolling suitcase. Your daypack should have enough space for clothing, food and drinks.

Bed linens and towels will be provided on the boat.

Fishing equipment is available on the boat if you wish to try your luck at fishing.
