Ski touring, relaxation, and culinary experiences in Lofoten

From USD 9880

In the heart of Raftsundet, in one of Lofoten's most spectacular areas, Brakøya awaits. Here, you and your ski friends, both old and new, will enjoy a completely private stay on the island, surrounded by dramatic mountains, tranquil fjords, and world-class nature. The experience combines ski touring, relaxation, and culinary meals that taste as good as the view.

Highlights

  • Skiing from mountain to fjord in a unique area
  • Private boat for all ski tours
  • Certified and experienced guide (IFMGA)
  • Dedicated host for your experience
  • All meals prepared on the island by a private chef
  • Sauna & outdoor hot tub

Brakøya is a historic trading post, newly opened in 2025, offering an exclusive venue for ski experiences and tranquility. You will be staying in the island's main house and guest suites – you will meet no one else from the outside here. This is a place for those who seek something rare, something authentic. Days are filled with skiing tailored to the group's ability, while evenings can be enjoyed in peace and quiet, away from noise and routine.

The peaks to be explored are decided by the guide each day, based on the weather, snow conditions, and the group's skill level, ensuring safe and memorable experiences.

The adventure begins on Wednesday afternoon at Evenes Airport, where the hosts will meet you and accompany you to the quay. A private boat transfer to Brakøya awaits there, and the following days are completely yours.

Day 2:First day of touring

Breakfast is enjoyed in the main house and your packed lunch is prepared, before a briefing for the day is held. Today, a reconnaissance tour will be conducted so that the guide can get familiar with each one of you. This will provide a solid foundation for both you and the guide ahead of tomorrow. To get from the island to the mountains, you will use a boat as transportation, which grants access to more areas than traveling by car. After the day's tour, a heated sauna and hot tub await you back on Brakøya. The day concludes with a wonderful shared meal in the main house.

Day 3:Ski touring in Lofoten

New day, new opportunities. It's time to expand the horizon. Where the tour goes today will depend on several factors: weather forecasts, snow conditions, the group's preferences, the guide's preferences... the only thing that is absolutely certain is that you will have another fantastic day surrounded by the majestic areas around Trollfjorden and Lofoten. We'll jump in the boat and head for the mountains! Like yesterday, today will conclude with a visit to the sauna before a fine meal in the main house.

As on the previous day, you will work with the guide to find the best touring destination for the day, based on snow conditions and safety. Should the weather and conditions not permit skiing on certain days, the hosts at Brakøya will offer alternative activities such as a fishing trip, snowshoeing, yoga, or a cooking class—the possibilities here are endless! The afternoon concludes with a final visit to the sauna before we enjoy a good meal together in the evening.

Day 5:Final ski tour and return home

The time has come to say goodbye to both the mountains and the people. Fortunately, before we do, we can squeeze in one final ski tour so that you leave with the maximum possible experiences and vertical meters from your stay. We plan the return journey to arrive at Evenes Airport at approximately 5:00 PM.

Training and preperations

In order to participate on this trip, you must have good physical fitness ascending and descending on skis. Ascents can vary depending on the group's ability and snow conditions, but being able to ascend 1,200 - 2,000 meters per day is important when participating on this trip. Avalanche equipment is mandaroty for all participants.

It's important to have experience in backcountry skiing, skinning, and to be an able skier in mountain terrain. Avalanche awareness and training are important, as well as the knowledge of how to use avalanche safety equipment, such as a beacon, shovel, and probe. Your guide will have the final risk management decision-making on this trip in order to ensure safe ascents and descents each day. Changes in weather, snow, or road conditions can change the itinerary that is presented in the day-to-day program.

Accomodation and food

In the middle of the island lies the main house, where a welcoming hall leads you into two charming living rooms: a cozy lounge with a wood-burning stove, and a sun-drenched living room overlooking the beach. The kitchen invites you to enjoy quiet and long meals, from breakfast to dinners in the glow of candlelight.

On the second floor, you will find three spacious suites with stunning views, private lounges, en-suite bathrooms, and access to common areas for relaxation and socializing. Just a short distance away are two additional suites that have direct access to the garden and the shoreline, beautifully complementing the atmosphere of the main house.

At Brakøya, food is central to the experience—all meals, snacks, and beverages are included. We do not use fixed menus; instead, dishes are prepared daily based on seasonal produce and fresh local ingredients.

Our chef celebrates the flavors of Northern Norway, with great consideration for any allergies or dietary preferences, and with a passion for sustainable cooking. Guests are welcome to participate in foraging for ingredients to get closer to nature and the island's own treasures.

Other information

The easiest way to get to Evenes is by flying from Oslo with Norwegian or SAS. To meet the group at the agreed time of 4:30 PM, we recommend booking the SAS flight that lands at Evenes at 4:15 PM (SK4094). For the return journey, we recommend a departure at 6:25 PM with SAS (SK4085). Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding your travel itinerary. If you wish to arrive or depart at a different time, transportation can be arranged for an additional fee.

We recommend that you bring one piece of luggage for clothes, toiletries, and other items necessary for the trip. We also ask that you bring a daypack for food, water, camera, extra clothing, and necessary safety equipment so that these are easily accessible during the various day tours we will embark on. Ski equipment will be easiest to transport in a separate bag.
