This unique Bike & Sail adventure combines breathtaking biking routes with the freedom of exploring by sea. Over four days, you’ll ride through valleys, cross dramatic fjords, and pedal along remote island paths—all while living aboard the Norrøna Varg Sail Yacht, your floating basecamp. With seamless transitions between land and sea, this journey takes you to places few have the chance to experience.

Bookings are per cabin. Each cabin has a double bed that can also be divided into twin beds. The boat has a total of 4 cabins that fits 8 people in total.

Day 1:Arrival & Biking in Skjomsdalen

We will meet in Evenes at 10 AM and settle in to the boat. We then head to Skjomsdalen, where we begin our first ride. The trail winds through a picturesque valley, surrounded by towering peaks and serene rivers. We bring lunch with us and enjoy it during the day. After the ride, we board Norrøna Varg S/Y, set sail, and enjoy a well-earned dinner under the evening sky.

Day 2:Kjeldebotn

We sail to a secluded fjord and drop anchor in Kjeldebotn, a remote and wild biking paradise. The terrain offers a mix of technical and flowing trails, with spectacular views at every turn. After a full day of riding, we return to the boat to unwind, enjoy a sauna session, and share stories over dinner.

Day 3:Crossing Efjord & Verdensvaet

Our adventure today takes us across Efjord & Verdensvaet, where we drop in on one side and pick up on the other. This point-to-point ride offers some of the most breathtaking scenery of the trip. After an exhilarating day, we sail towards our next destination and enjoy another peaceful night at anchor.

For our final day, we explore Barøya, a small island with unique trails and a visit to the historic Barøy Lighthouse. This remote spot offers an incredible last ride, blending coastal landscapes with deep history. In the late afternoon, we sail back to Evenes, where the adventure concludes around 3 PM.

Training and preparations

For this trip you need prior trail biking experience. Some of the stages can be quite challenging, necessitating a solid foundation in training and robust health before embarking on this adventure.

A good physical condition and a solid riding technique on trails up to S2 (scored by using the Single Track Scale, which classifies natural trails 0-5) are therefore the essential prerequisites for enjoying this multi-day tour to the full.

Accommodation and Meals

We stay on a comfortable boat with excellent facilities. Accommodations are double-bed cabins, with the possibility of making twin beds. If you are traveling alone, you will get your own cabin. 

There is a private shower and toilet in each cabin. 

We provide a hearty breakfast, prepare packed lunches for our excursions, and serve delicious 3-course dinners in the evening.

The alcoholic beverages must be purchased on the boat due to the liquor license.

Other information

Bike is not included, please contact us if you would like to rent a bike. 

If you bring your own bike, you need a full suspention bike. 

As all equipment is on board the boat at all times, it's advisable to limit your luggage to one bag for clothes and gear, and one daypack for excursions. Please pack in a bag or backpack. Your daypack should have enough space for clothing, food and drinks.

The extent of mobile phone coverage will vary during the trip.

Equipment list

This list is intended as a guideline, so that we have what we need regardless of the weather we get on the trip. Remember that you can also get used hiking equipment that works perfectly. Get in touch if you have any questions. TIP: We recommend that you have the most important hiking equipment in your hand luggage, for example hiking boots and gore-tex jacket/trousers.

Obligatory

Clothing

Not too thick, bring more layers if necessary. Top and bottom.

Wool or synthetic. Avoid cotton. Remember to always bring extra dry socks with you to prevent chafing.

We recommend thin wool.

Fleece or wool. 

Down or synthetic insulation.

Waterproof jacket and pants.

Hat or headband

Footwear

Solid, with a solid sole. Such as approaches shoes.

Equipment

Avoid bringing a suitcase, they are more difficult to transport between hotels.

Personal medicines and, for example, band-aids, blister plaster, sports tape, throat lozenges, nasal drops, Paracetamol/Ibuprofen, stomach regulators, etc.
We need to know about all medicines you are taking, in case something happens. 

Tooth brush, tooth paste, small towel, ear plugs, wet wipes, biodegradable soap, etc.

You should be able to bring 2-3 litres of water.

Full suspension bike for mountain biking on trails.

Mandatory for August and September departures, optional for June and July departures. Remember new/extra batteries.

Clothing

Thin, ultra light.

For evenings and leasure days.

Pants/shorts, long/short sleeved shirt (wool or synthetic), thin and light windbreaker. Padded bike shorts if preferred. Dress according to the weather and temperature.

If you go for a swim

Footwear

Slippers, crocs, sandals or similar.

Shoes for mountain biking, flat sole or SPD is ok - bring what fits your pedals, and that you are used to/comfortable with.

Equipment

Toilet paper, antibac, and waste bags for the paper. Remember leave no trace.

Nuts, chocolate, energy bars, etc.

For use in the backpack to keep your equipment dry during rain.
