Training and preparations

The various hikes will be approximately 3- 8 hours long. You have to expect uneven terrain, some scrambling as well as it can be slippery if it rains. You should have experience with similar conditions and you should be comfortable witg being physically active for several hours per day.

Be prepared to be challenged if these conditions are new to you, or train for such hikes before the trip begins.

Throughout this journey, you’ll stay in a handpicked collection of the areas most unique and comfortable accommodations—from classic DNT mountain huts such as Gjevillvasshytta, Trollheimshytta and Jøldalshytta to the local favourite Hotel Aak in Romsdalen.

Most meals are included, and you’ll enjoy a mix of three-course dinners made from local ingredients, expedition-style packed lunches, and breakfast buffets.

Other information

You’ll be traveling by rental car, so a valid driver’s license and willingness to share driving responsibilities is required.

We recommend packing a duffel bag or soft-sided suitcase for your main luggage (easier to fit in the car and manage at smaller accommodations), as well as a comfortable daypack for food, water, and extra layers during your hikes.

How to get there

Travel to Trondheim by domestic flights with SAS, Norwegian or Widerøe. You can also reach Trondheim by train with VY. Trondheim Airport is the main gateway to the area and is located close to town. You can fly to Trondheim from cities in Norway like Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Ålesund, and from one of the main Europeans hubs - Amsterdam.
