Roald Lande
Roald thrives on most things within the outdoor field, but as an internationally certified mountain guide through NORTIND/UIAGM, he is a specialist in mountaineering and ski touring.
He boasts extensive experience as an instructor and guide in both summer and winter settings, along with on- and offshore industrial rope access expertise. His portfolio includes guiding and leading numerous expeditions, such as glacier crossings like Jostedalsbreen, working and guiding in Svalbard, kayaking in Greenland, and skiing adventures in Morocco and Lebanon. Additionally, he has achieved remarkable feats, including climbing Aconcagua and exploring the Patagonian landscapes. Roald now dedicates himself primarily to guiding, and serves as a steady guide on our ski touring and mountaineering tours.
Roald earned the prestigious IVBV/UIAGM/IFMGA mountain guide approval in autumn 2018. Furthermore, he holds a bachelor's degree in outdoor life and practical-pedagogical education (PPU) from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH) and is a certified kayak instructor accredited by the Norwegian Canoe Association (NPF).

I come from Stord, an island municipality on the west coast of Norway.
Where do you call home at the moment?
I live in Oslo.

Windsurfing, climbing, alpine touring (with and without skis), alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biking.

I believe my first assignment was a climbing course in 2014.
Which Norrøna product is your favorite at the moment?
Falketind flex1 pants
What do you always bring in your backpack?
Water!
What do you do in your daily life to reduce your CO2 footprint?
I cycle quite a bit and use public transport here in the city. However, I do feel a bit guilty about driving a lot when I work in the mountains. I’ve led several ski touring courses at Vatnahalsen, where we take the train all the way there. Traveling by train is definitely the best way to go, and I really wish we had more railway lines in our country.
What is your favorite place in the world?
It's hard to choose. The mountains in southern Patagonia are spectacular, but nothing beats the beautiful nature we have here in Norway. So, I choose Norway!
What kind of advice would you give a 10 year old version of yourself?
I think it’s pointless to give advice to a 10-year-old. "Keep playing" might have worked, though.
What is your hobbies/what do you like spending the time on outside work and the outdoor activities?
Windsurfing, training, forestry work, reading.
If you could choose a super power, what would it be and why?
A peacemaker who could end all wars in the world.
