Øyvind Utby

Since 1992, Øyvind has spent most of his free time on mountain adventures, whether in hiking boots, climbing shoes, or on skis.

Øyvind has done a lot of climbing in Norway – both mountains and rock faces – and has summited nearly 200 peaks over 2000 meters. He is trained as a climbing, skiing, and glacier instructor, as well as a B-level coach in Telemark.

South America holds a special place in his heart, and he’s primarily found on trips there (Peru's Inca Trail & Azungate, Cordillera Blanca, Bolivia, and Aconcagua). He enjoys practicing his Spanish and is happy to chat with the locals using the vocabulary he knows. Øyvind has had several long trips, including half a year in Southeast Asia (1996), half a year in Alaska and Canada (2002), and several two-month trips to South America (1999, 2001, 2005). In Alaska, he even did a few first descents on skis.
