Mette Langnes

Mette is from Arendal but has lived in Oslo for 20 years. She works as a special needs caregiver. Mette enjoys spending time in a hammock in the forest, where she has spent 400 nights outdoors over the past 5 years.

In 2004, Mette embarked on an 11-month backpacking journey around the world, igniting her lifelong passion for travel. She loves spending time in the Norwegian mountains and forests, enjoying activities like canoeing, kayaking, and hiking. Mette thrives on taking people on new adventures, finding great joy in creating lasting memories with fellow travelers. With extensive experience from her travels and tours, she is a certified tour leader for the Norwegian Trekking Association, has experience in high-altitude environments—such as Mount Kilimanjaro—and has completed a Wilderness First Aid course. Additionally, Mette works with coaching and guidance.

Where did you grow up?
I'm from Arendal, in the southern part of Norway.

Where do you call home at the moment?
I live in Oslo.

Activities
Life in the outdoors, camping in hammocks, and spending time with friends. I love traveling to experience new cultures and meet new people. I have over 100 nights camping outside each year.

When did you join the Norrøna family?
I started in 2023.

What do you always bring in your backpack?
Chocolate!

What do you do in your daily life to reduce your CO2 footprint?
I walk – a lot! 

What is your favorite place in the world?
Costa Rica!

What kind of advice would you give a 10 year old version of yourself?
Get out into the world – experience it!

What is your hobbies/what do you like spending the time on outside work and the outdoor activities?
Chill, friends, reading, good food, and wine.

What is your hidden talent?
I love planning small surprises for others.

If you could choose a super power, what would it be and why?
Night vision or zoomable eyes :)
