Lise Ottem

After several years in the police force, Lise decided in 2008 to pursue her passion for the outdoors and left her job in the force. Since then, she has embraced life in nature, earning qualifications in outdoor recreation as well as nature and cultural heritage management. Recently, she also completed a master's degree in tourism management.

In 2012, Lise published the hiking guidebook Altaturer. The book became popular locally and has sold over 5,000 copies to date. She has worked as a meteorological assistant at Bjørnøya, and has lived in both Ny-Ålesund and Longyearbyen. In addition, she has guided extensively in Svalbard and Finnmark. Hiking and kayaking are popular summer activities, while mountain skiing, cross-country skiing, and randonee are great winter pursuits.
