Eirik Hjellset

Educated in outdoor studies, has a lot of experience from the outdoors, and is a calm and steady guy.

Eirik Hjellset is from Oslo and is a student when he is not a guide. Among other things, he has a bachelor's degree in outdoor life from the Norwegian Sports Academy.

Eirik has always had a great interest in outdoor life, the challenges of being on a trip, and the joy and mastery that comes with it. Eirik is a positive person who works to see everyone in the group, make guests feel important on the trip, and pass on all the positive experiences he himself has had in nature to others.

Eirik climbs a lot, also in the high mountains, the feeling of reaching a peak, enjoying the view and sharing the mastery with others, is something he values. Eirik is a steady guy who is perceived as calm and safe for those who are on a trip with him.

Where did you grow up?
Nordstrand in Oslo.

Where do you call home at the moment?
Langhus, not far from Oslo.

Activities
Climbing, ski touring, life in the outdoors, road cycling, and ice hockey.

When did you join the Norrøna family?
I started in 2021.

Which Norrøna product is your favorite at the moment?
My Trollveggen Gore-Tex Pro light jacket.
 
What do you always bring in your backpack?
A warm jacket, dry socks, and a pack of Norwegain candy.

What do you do in your daily life to reduce your CO2 footprint?
I don't throw away food! 

What is your favorite place in the world?
Sogndal in Fjord Norway!

What kind of advice would you give a 10 year old version of yourself?
Go big on what you find fun and exciting.

What is your hobbies/what do you like spending the time on outside work and the outdoor activities?
Sailing in the summer and watching a good movie at the cinema.

What is your hidden talent?
I can do a backflip on the ground.

If you could choose a super power, what would it be and why?
Teleportation. Imagine being able to snap your fingers and suddenly find yourself in the Alps, skiing on what would otherwise be a rainy day back home in Norway.
