Carl-Martin Schönning
Calle is from Sweden but has lived in Svalbard for the past 13 years. Here he has full access to nature just outside of his home - glaciers, mountains and fjords, just the way he likes it! Up here, he does snowmobile guiding, ski guiding and courses in avalanches, glaciers, first aid and kayaking.
He is an NF Glacier guide- and instructor, Avalanche Instructor, NGF First Aid Instructor and NPF Sea Kayaking Instructor. His interest in arctic paddling has taken him further to Alaska, Antarctica, Greenland, Franz Josef Land, South Georgia and arctic Canada.
In Svalbard, he is active in the Red Cross's rescue groups within glaciers and avalanches, otherwise he is particularly active in a nice, comfy chair with polar literature on his lap.
As tour leader in Norrøna Adventure, he is a "potato" who takes care of most things, but don't be surprised if you find him with a paddle in hand or on skis in front of a sled. When he is travelling, he enjoys a good mood and good food, and he has a hidden talent as a wine connoisseur.
