Day 2:Into the fjords!

After a hearthy breakfast at our accommodation we head to the fjords. First off is Hjørundfjorden, sort of a hidden gem in this area with quaint villages, dramatic mountains and a couple of very good accommodations, we will stay at probably the best one, Hotel Union Øye. But before we end up on here we will embark on a hike to Bentebu, a small shelter that is situated right next to the trail that goes up Saksa Mountain. Here we can enjoy our packed lunch in spectacular sorroundings, and if the group wants we can of course hike further up for even better views. In the afternoon we end up at Hotel Union Øye where we will spend the next two nights. In the evening a 3-course dinner awaits.

Day 3:E-biking in Norangsdalen and fjord sauna

Wake up to the sound of... tranquility. You are now in rural Norway so there is no point in stressing out. We enjoy breakfast together before heading out for today's activity. With e-bikes we cycle through Norangsdalen where you at some places probably will get a whole new perspective on the expression narrow. This valley is definitely something else, the same goes for the small lake we will pass on our way called Lyngstøylvatnet where a rock slide in 1908 dammed up the nearby river which then, in time, flooded a farm situated here. Today the remains of the farm can be seen under the water making this a popular destination for diving and snorkeling. After biking it is time to take it down a notch in the fjord sauna before another delicious 3-course dinner await in the evening.

Day 4:The Geirangerfjord by boat and on foot

Today we will head further into the fjords going to probably the most famous one in Norway, The Geirangerfjord. And when you see it there is no wonder why this has become so famous. Here, green, lush mountainsides go hand in hand with waterfalls, small inaccessible farms dotted around in the terrain, and the main village of Geiranger, at the end of the fjord. Upon arrival we we will embark on a hike to Skageflå, one of the aforementioned farms. When we arrive at the farm you will wonder why they placed a farm at this exact spot several hundred years ago, but somehow they did. Different times... After visiting the farm we will hike down to the fjord where a RIB will transport us across the fjord to Grande where we will check into our accommodation. In the evening a delicious 3-course dinner awaits.

Day 5:Kayaking in Valldal and Trollstigen

From Geiranger we drive north towards Valldal where we will enjoy a 5 hour kayak trip on the fjord. Paddling towards the village of Fjørå and then to the other side of the fjord where we will enjoy lunch at an old farm, you will get another perspective of the fjords, this time from below. Returning to Valldal after lunch we head for another highlight in the region. Trollstigen is, together with the Geirangerfjord, one of the most visited places in the region, and also in the whole of Norway. Here the road twist and turn down the almost vertical mountainsides. We will stop for a short walk in the area before we continue further to our accommodation for then final two nights, Hotel Aak. In the evening a delicious 3-course dinner will be served.

Day 6:Litlefjell and Tuen Vinery

On our final day in Romsdalen we will explore the area both on foot, and with our palettes. After breakfast we head into the heart of the Romsdalen Mountains where we will do a short but very spectacular hike to Litlefjell. By far not the highest mountain in the region, but don't be fooled by its size, the views from the summit is simply breathtaking. If the weather gods are on our side we will have a 360 degree view of the highlights of Romsdalen Mountains. In front of us lies Trollveggen, to the left you will find Romsdalshorn, to the right Romsdalseggen and behind us Store Venjetinden. No wonder this area is a mecca for hikers and climbers alike. After the hike another highlight awaits - we are going on a wine tasting at Tuen Vinery, one of the very few vineries located in Norway. Here they produce wine from typical Norwegian fruits and berries such as strawberry, raspberry, krekling/blueberry, apple, etc. So not your average red, white or rose... In the evening we enjoy one final 3-course dinner in the restaurant at Hotel Aak.

Risk level

2/6 Risk

Activities/trips with little risk. There are usually few incidents and they are usually of such a nature that they can be dealt with locally.

Traning and preparations

This is a trip that is suitable for those who have done some hiking in the mountains before, and enjoy being active outdoors. The terrain we we will hike in can be steep and at some times exposed, but the trails are well marked and the hikes are not too long.

You do not need a wet card, nor do you need any previous experience of paddling a kayak to join the kayak trip on this tour.

Accommodation

We spend the nights at some of the nicest accommodations in the area, such as Hotel Brosundet, Hotel Union Øye, Grande Fjord Hotel and Hotel Aak. If you are traveling alone, you will share a double/twin room with someone of the same sex.

If you are traveling alone and want a single room, you can choose it when signing up. This comes at an extra of 10.500 NOK per person.

Other information

The easiest way to get to Ålesund is by plane. The three largest airlines in Norway - SAS, Norwegian and Widerøe has daily flights to Ålesund from all the major cities in Norway, either direct or with one stopover. The dutch airline KLM also has direct flights to Ålesund from Amsterdam.

We ask you to bring a large piece of luggage (we recommend a duffel bag, this is easier to handle in the terrain we travel in) for clothes, hygiene items and other necessary things that you need for the trip. We also ask you to bring a daypack that you can use when we are hiking/biking/kayaking.

Equipment list

This list is intended as a guideline, so that we have what we need regardless of the weather we get on the trip. Remember that you can also get used hiking equipment that works perfectly. Get in touch if you have any questions. TIP: We recommend that you have the most important hiking equipment in your hand luggage, for example hiking boots and gore-tex jacket/trousers.

Obligatory

Avoid bringing a suitcase, they are more difficult to transport between hotels.

We need to know about all medicines you are taking, in case something happens.

Tooth brush, tooth paste, small towel, ear plugs, wet wipes, biodegradable soap, etc.

You should be able to bring 2-3 litres of water.

Bed linen and disposable sleep liner are included in the cabins, but if you prefer to bring your own sleep liner/light sleepingbag, you are free to do so.
