Embark on an unforgettable mountain biking journey, traversing exhilarating singletrack trails through this spectacular landscape. Begin your adventure with two thrilling day tours around Val Gardena, immersing yourself in the beauty of the surroundings. Then, embark on the exciting west-east crossing of the Dolomites, exploring its most remarkable spots while enjoying the comfort of charming, high alpine huts for restful nights.

Highlights

  • The awe-inspiring views of the Dolomites
  • Numerous singletracks tailored for technical and exhilarating rides (grade S3 on the Single Trail Scale)
  • An average vertical descent of 3,000-3,500 meters and only 500 meters of uphill  per day
  • Comfortable 4-star hotel and charming alpine huts

The breathtaking scenery of rugged, pale rock juxtaposed with gentle, verdant alpine pastures creates an awe-inspiring vista. Renowned as one of the most beautiful mountain ranges globally and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area is a melting pot where the ancient Ladin culture intersects with Italian and German-Tyrolean traditions.

Our journey will capitalize on lifts and cable cars whenever feasible, facilitating access to the summit for exhilarating downhill adventures. The terrain predominantly comprises singletracks, interspersed with occasional road and gravel stretches. Enriched by the experiences of a lifetime, our journey concludes with a shuttle back to Val Gardena.

A good physical condition and a solid riding technique on trails up to S3 (scored by using the Single Track Scale, which classifies natural trails) are therefore the essential prerequisites for enjoying this multi-day tour to the full.

Physical level

4/6 Physical

Here you have to be ready for a real challenge! The trips are often longer than at lower levels. Along the way, it will be both physically and mentally demanding, and that requires you to be prepared for this. You should engage in targeted training well in advance of departure, and you must prepare well.

Comfort level

4/6 Comfort

Simple to good quality inns, such as small family hotels, B&Bs and agrotourism (farmhouses), usually with private bathrooms.

Risk level

4/6 Risk

Activities/trips with significant risk. Incidents may occur, and they can be of such a nature that they require professional help.

Difficulty & Preparation

The level of the tour is demanding to very demanding. There is a great variety of different singletracks, some are easier, however often they are challenging, with slippery, steep and rocky sections, which can of course also be walked.

A good physical condition and a solid riding technique on trails up to S3 (scored by using the Single Track Scale, which classifies natural trails) are therefore the essential prerequisites for enjoying this multi-day tour to the full.

This trip averages 3000-3500 meters of descent and 500 meters of ascent daily. We predominantly cycle on narrow trails - "singletracks," with some road/gravel for transportation in between. After crossing the Dolomites, we take a bus back to Val Gardena.

Visa, Vaccines and Health

Before embarking on our journey together, we kindly remind all tour participants to check their respective country's visa status and vaccination requirements. Ensuring your travel documents are in order is a crucial step in guaranteeing a smooth and hassle-free adventure. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of return.

Additionally, research any required vaccinations or health precautions to stay safe during your trip. Don't forget to verify that your passport is up-to-date and will remain valid for the duration of your stay. Always consult with your country's official travel advisory or consulate for the most accurate and current information on entry requirements and health guidelines for your destination.

If you are 67+ years, you should undergo a comprehensive medical check-up before the trip. Inform your doctor that it involves physical exertion.

It is important that you complete all sections of the registration form (especially where we request health and allergy information) and let us know if there is anything we need to be aware of before and during the trip.

Relevant health information that may affect the trip should also be communicated to the guide at the start of the tour. Please note that if you are on regular medications, have known allergies, or similar conditions, you should always have your personal medications with you.

Additional Information

International flights are not included on this trip so it is important to check whether the departure is guaranteed or not before booking your international flights for the trip. On each departure, we must have a minimum number of confirmed participants before we can guarantee the departure.

The primary international airport near Selva di Val Gardena is Munich Airport in Germany. Alternatively, you can also consider flying into Bergamo, Verona, or Venice Marco Polo Airport in Italy, or Innsbruck in Austria, which are the closest - approximately 3-4 hours away by a combination of trains and buses (1,2-2 hours by car). There are convenient train and bus connections available from all these airports to reach Selva Val Gardena. Several companies also provide private transfer services from these airports to Selva Val Gardena.

Our accommodations will be a combination of a comfortable hotel in Selva di Val Gardena, and cozy, high alpine huts, that offer delicious food and beverages. Throughout the crossing of the Dolomites, there won't be luggage service, so we'll pack our gear in backpacks. However, the second hut provides a washing machine for underwear and jerseys, allowing us to reduce our equipment to the essentials. The huts also provide bed linens and towels for showers. All accommodations have power/charging facilities, including for e-bikes.

At the hotel, you'll share a double room with another participant, while mountain cabins typically have 4-8 -bed rooms. Single rooms (only available at the hotel, not the mountain cabins) are usually an option for an additional fee - please contact us if you're interested.
