You will explore some of the most renowned, and beautiful mountain passages within the area. During this tour, you will visit some of the most important places in Norwegian outdoor culture and follow trails established by the Norwegian Trekking AssociationOn day two of your adventure, you will hike on the famous Besseggen which is one of the most classic hikes in Norway, and the view towards the lake of Gjende's turquoise waters is humbling and breath-taking.

This trail is for confident hikers who are comfortable using their hands and feet in some scrambling terrain. The scrambling sections are a short part of Bessegen, however, it can feel exposed. We encourage you to have experience in this type of terrain to join this trip, as the hike is committed to getting to our destination.

After your days in the National Park's mountains, your route heads towards where fjord meets mountains, to the famous Norwegian fjords in the west. First, you will hike on the Old King's Road from 1790, a beautiful hike that takes you through fascinating architectural history and beautiful nature. On the next day, you experience the green and wild valley of Utladalen. In Utladalen, you will find old traditional Norwegian farms and the largest unregulated waterfall in all of Norway. With its 275 meters of free-falling water, the sound and view of Avdalsfossen is an incredible natural wonder.

Our tour ends with one of Fjord Norway's most beautiful views. You will hike to the mountain Prest, one of the most beautiful viewpoints around Flåm before you leave with Flåmsbanen to Oslo or Bergen - one of the world's most beautiful train journeys.

While hiking in a small and exclusive group of explorers, you will stay in the beautiful and traditional mountain lodges en route. Later, you will stay in modern cabins and a beautiful hotel with a stunning fjord view. Your luggage will be transported to Jotunheimen while you hike.

If you are a keen hiker and explorer, looking for a real adventure tour in Norway, then you should add this to your bucket list!

Day 2:Hike Besseggen

Ask any Norwegian about today’s adventure - Besseggen, and they will know what hike and mountain area you will visit. The view from the ridge is simply stunning, and Besseggen is the area for some of the most beautiful nature pictures in Norway. Our night is spent at the traditional Memurubu Mountain Lodge. Should the weather prevent us from attempting the ridge, we will hike around the lake to our next destination.

Day 3:Hike Memurudalen, Gjendetunga or Bukkelægret

We continue our journey further into Jotunheimen. Today, we have several options and destinations. If conditions and our legs feel fresh and quick after yesterday's long hike over Besseggen, we can embark on the hike over Bukkelægret after a good breakfast at Memurubu. Bukkelægret offers views of Besseggen and the beautiful Gjende Alps. There are some scrambling sections, but no more challenging than the day before with some chains to assist us in steeper sections. We have the whole day, so we won't rush more than we need to. If weather or energy levels don't permit, we have other alternatives. We can follow the Muru River into Memurudalen and towards Memurubreen, then take the boat to Gjendebu in the afternoon. Alternatively, we can start the day with the morning boat to Gjendebu and explore the lush Storådalen or hike up to Gjendetunga, which offers stunning views over Gjendevannet, Slettmarkspiggen, and all the way to Besseggen. Tonight, we will stay at the oldest tourist cabin in the DNT system, where the hosts warmly welcome all guests and we will enjoy a delicious 3-course dinner.

Day 4:Explore Jotunheimen

Today marks our final day on the historic route through Jotunheimen National Park. We have two route options available to reach our destination. Day 7:Aurlandsfjorden above

Wake up to the beautiful view at Aurlandsfjorden from our hotel, enjoy a good breakfast, and get ready for today's hike. Our hiking goal for the day is the mountain Prest (1478 meters above sea level). Some parts of the trail might feel exposed, but we guarantee that the experience on the top is worth it. From here you will have a perfect view of the large fjord landscape. We will enjoy some free time, maybe go for a swim or a stroll in Aurland. In the evening we will enjoy our last dinner together and look back at a week with hopefully, memories for a lifetime.

Day 8:Goodbye!

Though it is our last day of this week-long adventure tour, we will enjoy breakfast together before we depart. A short ride from our hotel is the famous Flåmsbanen; many people consider the old ride the most beautiful journey in the whole world. You can choose to end your adventure in both Bergen and Oslo, as the train is very well connected to both destinations. It is also possible to take the ferry to Bergen from Flåm or Aurland (right outside our accommodation). Otherwise, you can also choose to spend some more days by the Norwegian Fjords.

Physical level

4/6 Physical

Here you have to be ready for a real challenge! The trips are often longer than at lower levels. Along the way, it will be both physically and mentally demanding, and that requires you to be prepared for this. You should engage in targeted training well in advance of departure, and you must prepare well.

Comfort level

3/6 Comfort

Simple accommodations, such as cabins or guesthouses, often with multi-bed rooms. Sometimes with bunk beds and often with a shared bathroom.

Risk level

3/6 Risk

Activities/trips with some risk. Certain incidents may occur, and they may be of such a nature that they may require professional help.

Traning and preparations

The paths in Norway can be slippery, muddy and rocky, having hiking experience in similar terrain is beneficial. Some of the trails are exposed and require some scrambling. Being comfortable in scrambling conditions, slightly exposed settings and challenging hiking terrain is necessary on this trip.

Accommodation

We stay in unique and welcoming accommodations within the area. If you are traveling alone, you will share a same-sex twin room. If you would like a single room, please request this directly for a single, additional payment of 3500 NOK.

Most nights we will stay in en-suite rooms, but not all. If you want a single room we can't guarantee an en-suite room each day.

Other information

We meet in Oslo in the morning, so we recommend arriving the night before. The trip ends in Flåm after breakfast. You have to arrange your own return journey from Flåm. Book train tickets at www.vy.com.

Equipment list

This list is intended as a guideline, so that we have what we need regardless of the weather we get on the trip. Remember that you can also get used hiking equipment that works perfectly. Get in touch if you have any questions. TIP: We recommend that you have the most important hiking equipment in your hand luggage, for example hiking boots and gore-tex jacket/trousers.

Obligatory

Clothing

Not too thick, bring more layers if necessary. Top and bottom.

Wool or synthetic. Avoid cotton. Remember to allways bring dry socks with you, to prevent chafing.

We recommend thin wool.

Fleece or wool.

Down or primaloft.

Waterproof jacket and pants.

Hat or headband

Footwear

Bring waterproof shoes/boots that you are familiar with and comfortable in for technical terrain

Equipment

Avoid bringing a suitcase, they are more difficult to transport between hotels.

Personal medicines and, for example, band-aids, blister plaster, sports tape, throat lozenges, nasal drops, Paracetamol/Ibuprofen, stomach regulators, etc.
We need to know about all medicines you are taking, in case something happens.

Tooth brush, tooth paste, small towel, ear plugs, wet wipes, biodegradable soap, etc.

You should be able to bring 2-3 litres of water.

Mandatory for August and September departures, optional for June and July departures. Remember new/extra batteries.

Recommended

Clothing

Thin, ultra light.

For evenings and leasure days.

If you go for a swim

Footwear

Slippers, crocs, sandals or similar.

Equipment

Light. Have to be foldable or telescope.

Toilet paper, antibac, and waste bags for the paper. Remember leave no trace.

Nuts, chocolate, energy bars, etc.

For use in the backpack to keep your equipment dry during rain.

We always recommend wool in the Norwegian Mountains, but if you already have synthetic layers and don't want to buy new ones, synthetic is okay.

Bed linen and towels are included at each accommodation.

Due to limited space in the minibus, we ask that you bring one piece of luggage (we recommend a duffel bag, which is easier than a rolling bag to transport on this tour) with your clothes, toiletries, and items necessary for when we are not hiking. We require you to bring a day pack (hip belt strongly recommended) to use when hiking for food, water, cameras, and layers.

There will be luggage transportation by boat in Jotunheimen, so be prepared to carry your luggage from the boat pier to the cabins, max 400m (easier with a duffel bag).
