Meet-up is at Beito Husky Tours just south of Beitostølen. After arrival, we start with an introductory course where you become better acquainted with equipment and packing and also get to meet both the dogs we will take with us on the trip and the puppies/young dogs who are trained for later trips. During the day we will also go on a full-day training trip to learn more about how the dogs and the sled work together in nature. Dinner is served in the evening. After this, we will go through the final preparations before leaving for the wilderness tomorrow morning.
Are you looking for new, exciting experiences this winter? Then this long weekend package may be right up your alley! Over the course of four eventful days, we will take you out into the wilderness - in the outskirts of Jotunheimen - together with our own pack of dogs to get as close to nature as possible. This trip gives you a unique opportunity to experience the Norwegian winter landscape in a different way.
- Learn how to handle your own pack of dogs.
- Get to know our four-legged friends better during the trip.
- Experience the Norwegian winter landscape from your own dog sled.
- Overnight in glamping cabins, at Øysterli Støl, and at Haugseter.
- Enjoy the view of Norway's largest mountain area, Jotunheimen, during the trip.
Dogsledding is a perfect winter activity! You will not only get to experience the beautiful Norwegian nature up close, you will also handle your own pack of dogs during the trip. Haven't you tried dog sledding before? No problem. These dogs are used to humans and they are of course very kind.
The trip begins with an introductory course where we go through both equipment and packing in addition to meeting and getting to know the dogs that will join us on the trip. The next day we go out into the wilderness! Once we are here it is only us, our dogs, and the nature around us that we need to focus on. The next few days are spent in Jotunheimen's backyard where we will go from place to place before we travel back again to civilization at the end of the trip.
This trip is run in collaboration with Beito Husky Tours.
Age limit: 13 years
- 24 hour emergency standby team
- Guides with training in first aid
- First aid equipment available
- Cooperation with Turlegen.no for medical advice while in the field
We have to work a little to reach the destination. These are trips most people can handle, if they have a basic level of fitness. We sleep in comfortable tents and / or in cabins and hotels, but you do not have to have experience with tent life to join. The physical activity is the main element of the trip, such as cycling, kayaking, hiking, skiing / hiking or glacier hiking, but you do not need prior knowledge of the activity.
Activities / trips with low risk. There are usually few incidents, and they are usually of such a nature that they can be treated locally.
Training and preperations
You do not need any to have previous experience with any of the activities mentioned in the program. This trip is for everyone.
Accommodation and food
You will stay in three different places during the trip, both in glamping cabins, at Øysterli Støl, and at Haugseter.
It could be possible to get a single room on this trip but this must be requested in advance. Please contact us if this is desired. The trip price is based on two people sharing a twin room together.
The easiest way to get to Beitostølen is either to drive your own car/rental car or to take the bus. There are bus departures every day that go directly from Oslo to Beitostølen. From Bergen and Trondheim, it is also possible to take a bus or a train that corresponds with the bus to Beitostølen.
It is also possible to fly to Oslo and then take the bus from there to Beitostølen. If needed, we can assist you with both transportation and extra accommodation in Beitostølen both before and after the trip. Get in touch with us if you are interested in this.
We recommend that you bring one piece of luggage (we recommend a duffel bag, this is easier to carry around than a suitcase) with clothes, toiletries, and other items that are necessary during the trip. We also ask that you bring a day backpack for food, water, camera, and extra clothes so that you have this easily available on the various day trips that we are going on.
Changes may occur
We reserve the right to change prices. The day by day program is a guideline and changes may occur. You can refer to our general travel conditions for more information.
On all our trips, we require you to have full health and accident insurance which will also cover any emergency transport home. Read more about travel insurance.
