Day 2:Mountain biking

You will be woken up with fresh coffee delivered to your yurt, then a hearty breakfast will be served in our restaurant or outdoors. We plan the day based on the weather, guest wishes and biking conditions, so that it is optimal for everyone. Our guides also divide you according to level so that everyone can find a group on a similar experience level. We return for lunch and have a quiet time in the yurt, or with another activity. Those who want to take an afternoon trip can do so, or you can choose to enjoy the silence of our camp while the others are on their trip. After a day of lots of exercise and fresh air, it feels extra nice with a refreshing bath in the pond, followed by a trip to the sauna with something good in the glass. In the lounge, you can buy some snacks or refreshments before we enjoy a wonderful 3-course meal between seven and eight o'clock.

Accommodation

At Canvas Hotel, you’ll stay in luxury yurts that set a high bar for glamping standards. A yurt is the traditional nomadic home of Mongolia and surrounding regions, and has been widely used for thousands of years. Enjoy a high quality sleep in Hästens beds on an island in the middle of Telemark's wilderness. Each yurt is equipped with a wood burning stove and a private toilet with your bike, the restaurant and the spa/showers only a few meters away.

Other information

We ask you to bring a large piece of luggage (we recommend a duffel bag, as this is easier to handle in the terrain we travel) for clothes and other necessary things, you need for the trip. We also ask you to bring a small daypack that you can use when we are biking.

How to get there

Canvas Telemark is located in the highlands, in an isolated area 7 km from the nearest village. The hotel can not be accessed via vehicle, but you can park where the road ends and cycle or walk in. A host from Canvas Hotel will meet you when you park to help with your luggage so you can freely walk the path that takes about half an hour's walk (about 2 km) to the camp.

"The idea is that you should put aside the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the car park, and have plenty of time to get in touch with nature before you check in," - Thomas, Norrøna Canvas Telemark Site Manager
